Ahter Sonmez

Founder, President

Ahter Sönmez is a Turkish DJ, record producer, remixer, founder of the Turkish Trance Association and founder of DBS Group Entertainment: a media group owning two DJ Agencies, a Radio and an Electronic Music Production School in Istanbul. Ahter is a significant pioneer of uplifting trance genre in Turkey.

Career History

Ahter started his music production career in 1998 specializing in electronic dance music. In 2002, he completed his music technology and production education from Akademi Istanbul. Having produced many tracks, in 2004 Ahter started his Djing career as a resident in Radio Koc with his weekly trance show D.E.E.P'.' His first club hit was "Yagmur Duasi", a groovy Tech Trance production which also had several famous bootlegs.

Ahter is famous for teaching Electronic Music Production Workshops and Music Business seminars in universities and colleges. He has also been a teacher in Galatasaray ITM, which is a leading music technology academy in Turkey. Having started his own company, dB-S Turkey which grew to become a media group in several years. Ahter has also been working as a lecturer in his own company, coaching and consulting hundreds of producer nominees. Since 2007 he's also been working as an A&R at EuphoriaElite Records.

As a producer, Ahter worked under several pseudonyms. Under the aliases UnderstarS and A.S.T (Ahter-Sönmez-Turkey), he has dabbled in Tech Trance. He also created the Reactionary Progression project with Peter Sævik, where the sound is a mixture of deep trance and minimal techno containing tribal flavors, mostly experimenting with the dark side of this odd sounding genre.
